…and I’m back!!! After a two week absense from the boarding scene, this week I was able to ride again.
Monday I took this opportunity to go skateboarding with Jorg Jansen. So the skatepark @ Kasteellaan in Eindhoven, was our primary training grounds and it was time to practice the good old kick-flip trick. I know the theory behind it, but putting it into action is a totally different thing. It does have a high “gotcha“-effect over it, but problem is I didn’t have that before. Finally on this monday evening, with the help of something to hang-on to, I landed the kick-flip. Although this is the assisted version, it does bring the “gotcha”-effect closer and hopefully after some more practice I’ll be able to nail it unassisted.
Last night, Wednesday, I went out shredding at Montana Snowcenter – Westerhoven NL. Jorg is on holiday and Marieke still recovers from some heavily bruised knees , so I was the only one of our standard crew of 3. Never the less I put in some serious shredding, it felt liberating to be on the board again. The slope wasn’t the best to start riding again, because a lot of holiday skiers from the UK were ruining the grounds… But after a few warming up runs, I started with the features. First up were the setup jumps to get the jumping & 360′s going, after that I’d hit the down-slope boxes with 50-50′s and boards-slides and the rails for some 50-50′s. I did a speed check to go for the big kicker, but I felt there was speed missing. Still, I just wanted to see where it took me with that speed and found myself landing on top of the down-slope. After that I started paving the slope towards the kicker, which still wasn’t enough to fully clear it to the landing. So I stepped up the drop-in they prepared on top of the slope and this was getting close to the speed I needed to clear it. Finally on the last run of the evening I was able to fully clear it to the landing area, but I needed some serious pop for that to happen. Overall a very nice shred session and looking forward to tonights session as well. Hopefully the muscle aching will not start until after that
.
